FUD
FUD, fear, uncertainty and doubt, is negative news or rumour that spreads panic, whether or not it is true.

The term is used both for genuine concerns and, by supporters, to dismiss criticism. Real FUD is information spread to make people sell; real risk is information that should make them think. The skill is telling them apart by checking the source.
Prices often fall on rumours and recover when they prove false, which is why sentiment-driven moves are hard to trade. FUD is the counterpart of FOMO.
