Stablecoin
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency designed to hold a steady value, usually one US dollar.
Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC are backed by reserves or by other collateral and are used as cash within crypto: to park gains, to trade pairs and to move money between exchanges. Their price is meant to stay near $1.
The peg can break if the backing is doubted, so a stablecoin is not risk-free. CoinSeekly leaves stablecoins out of its price-history and ranking pages because their price barely moves.
