Bull Flag

A bull flag is a continuation pattern where a sharp rise (the pole) is followed by a short, slightly downward drift (the flag) before the climb resumes.

The pole is a fast move up, the flag a tight, orderly pullback on falling volume. A close above the flag's upper line signals that the advance is resuming, and the pole's height is the usual target.

Flags work best in strong trends and fail when the pullback deepens past half the pole. See the bull flag hub and the mirror image, the bear flag.
