How the calculator works

Your amount buys Aave at the buy price, less the fee. Those coins are sold at the sell price, less the fee again. Profit is what comes back minus what went in. The break-even price is the sell price that returns exactly your stake once both fees are paid.

Choosing a date is a shortcut for the buy price: it uses that day's closing price. The chart then shows what the holding was worth on every day since, which is usually a rougher ride than the final number suggests.

Questions

How is crypto profit calculated?
Divide the amount you invested by the buy price to get the number of coins, multiply the coins by the sell price, and subtract what you put in. Fees come off twice: once from the money going in and once from the money coming out.
How much would $1,000 of Aave bought 3 years ago be worth?
$1,000 of Aave bought on October 2, 2023 at $69.15 is worth $2,670 at the latest close of $184.62, a return of +167.0% before fees and taxes.
What is the break-even price?
The sell price at which you get back exactly what you put in. Without fees it equals the buy price. With a fee on each side it is higher, because both fees have to be earned back first.
Does the calculator include taxes?
No. Tax on crypto gains depends on the country and often on how long you held, so it is left out. Fees are included only if you fill in the fee field.
Where does the buy price come from?
Picking a date fills in that day's closing price of the AAVE/USDT pair on Binance, from January 1, 2021 onward. If you bought at a different price, type it into the buy price field instead.
